" VIRTUAL GAMBLING DESTROING CHILDRENS AND TEENAGERS "

Virtual Gambling is spreading everywhere in Kulaura of Moulvibazar. From neighborhood children to teenagers and young people are getting addicted to it.

It is known that using this opportunity of information technology, many teenagers, young men and women are leading to their destruction by engaging in various types of gambling using smart phones, tabs or electronic devices.
According to sources, this gambling has spread to the remote areas of different unions of the upazila. They are seen gambling openly in different hidden parts of the area. Many gamblers are also addicted to various drugs. Therefore, along with online gambling, the number of drug addicts is also increasing. A gang is using them to steal lakhs of rupees through fraud. As well as this virtual gambling, several youth gangs have been formed in different neighborhoods starting from the upazila city. They are involved in various criminal activities including drug dealing to collect gambling money.
Some children, teenagers and young people who are addicted to gambling said that online gambling is basically a kind of lottery. That is, those who play this game generate different types of lottery tickets. These tickets contain different numbers - which have to be bet on. If the number matches, the money has to be sent and withdrawn through Bikash or Bank.
They said that most of their buyers or players are from outside the country. So they choose various media including Facebook messenger to participate in gambling.
A parent, who did not want to be named, said that every morning boys of different ages in the neighborhood are seen messing around with mobile phones. I didn't understand anything at first. Later I heard that they are gambling on mobile. But the people of the neighborhood are afraid to say anything to them. Because they are organized. If someone says something, he gets organized and does not stop harassing him.
He sought the intervention of the local police administration in this regard.
In this regard, the officer-in-charge (OC) of Kulaura police station. Abduch Chalek said, after I joined Kulaura, I heard that there is a wide spread of online gambling here. We are launching a regular campaign against it.
Stating that it is not possible to prevent this gambling only with police operations, the OC said that area-based social prevention is also necessary to prevent this crime. The OC sought the cooperation of the local people to eradicate it.
