"INDIAN COSMETICS WORTH HALF A CRORE TAKA IN A TRUCK LOADED WITH SAND INLAINTAPUR, ONE (1) ARRESTED !
On Thursday (September 1) at 11 am, the police seized goods including a truck numbered Dhaka-Metro-T-22-7592 from Katagong area of Sylhet-Tamabil highway.
Police arrested a smuggler along with the truck while smuggling Indian cosmetics in a truck loaded with sand. The market value of seized cosmetics is approximately Tk 8 lakh 20 thousand.
The arrested person is from Kartikpur village of Madhyanagar police station of Sunamganj district. Son of Nurul Islam. Sujan (27). The police said that he is the helper of the truck. The driver is absconding in this incident
Confirming the matter, Jaintapur Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Golam Dastgir Ahmed said that based on secret information, Jaintapur Model Police Station conducted an operation at Katagong area of Sylhet-Tamabil highway at 11 am on Thursday and seized a truck loaded with sand on the way to Dhaka and brought it to the police station.
Later, by removing the sand through the workers, 31 sacks containing various types of Indian cosmetics covered with polythene and tripal were recovered from the truck. This police officer also said that preparations are underway to take legal action in this incident.
